This past Saturday, I read an article in the Florence Life flyer about kittens available at the Humane Society. This is a picture of Agnes (picture courtesy of Adopt a pet, Florence, KY). She was brought to the shelter with her mother and three siblings and they are all looking for new homes. The article said you should consider adopting them in pairs, they are happier if they have constant companionship. It just so happens that this past Saturday I woke up with a terrible headache and spent the majority of the day on the couch, watching TV and napping. In this sorry state I was in, I thought, aha... that's my problem... I need a pair of playful kittens to cheer me up! Well, I haven't adopted any yet, but I'm considering :)
So, this is how I will start my blog about the Midwest, with a headache, laying on the couch, contemplating kitten adoption. Hopefully, something about the Midwest will appear in my blog later.
And, just for the record, I moved to Northern Kentucky three years ago and need to decide if this is where I'll stay. I thought that writing about the area and documenting my life here could help me to decide. In six months, if I look back on my entries and it all looks bleak and depressing... I'm outa here! On the other hand, if it looks as though life is wonderful, I'll settle down. I haven't lived in one town for longer than five years since leaving home at age 20 (I'm now 45) and the thought of settling down is a bit daunting, but it's gotta happen eventually... doesn't it?
